Edwards had asked whether our sense of identity comes from being separate, from being individual, distinct from others, or from being connected to others. His [Edwards's] answer: 'Being is nothing but proportion.' In orther words, a sense of being comes not from unconnected individuality but from a sense of relation to others. We are all individuals, to be sure, but we are not only individuals. Our identity is also shaped by other minds and spirits. This is important for the entrepreneur to remember that his business is about more than just him. It's use and our connections.
